It’s been a hot minute since Justin Timberlake was in the recording studio. Not since FutureSex/LoveSounds in 2006 has JT released a full solo album, and we’ve all been sitting, waiting, and wishing for him to come back and grace us with that distinguished falsetto and infectious stage presence.

Mr. ~~Biel~~ Timberlake has been kind enough to stream his entire new album on iTunes so we all get a delicious preview before The 20/20 Experience releases on March 19. Word on the street is JT will also be performing a 1-hour iHeartRadio release party special on the CW that evening at 8:00.

We’re going back2back with Ellie Goulding posts, but I can’t help myself. She has now released this black and white video containing live tour footage for “Explosions” off of her latest album Halcyon. I wish everyone could listen to this song. It’s so powerful and heartfelt. Leave it to Ellie to write a song that brings some of the deepest human emotions to surface in such an elegantly honest way.

P.S. She writes amazing songs, period. Check out the rest of Halcyon, and even if you aren’t a fan of the music itself, you’ll see what I mean.

This song means a lot to me. Not just because I enjoy the melodic and uplifting sound, but the self-explanatory themes are inspiring. I take several away from this song and video.

Life can hit you with the most unexpected things… things you once thought impossible, or never even considered. There’s no certainty that you are on the right path, and sometimes things will end faster than they began.

Fate is a great unknown, therefore no facet of life, like time, passion or love, should ever be wasted. It could all be over in a matter of seconds.

You don’t always know what will happen, or why things happen… they just happen. Anything could happen. If you can learn to embrace the truth with clarity and understanding, you will be able to move forward no matter what obstacles you encounter and proceed to live your life.

Musicians can have all types of fans. There is one kind that is particularly irritating, and it’s the kind that are so loyal, they back anything the artist does, even if the artist intentionally tries to throw people off or happens to come up shorter than last time. Those fans that hear ANYTHING the person puts out and is all “OMG that is soooooo dope. AMAZING, MAN!” when the reality is, it’s terrible. Sometimes they just have no real musical conscience or weakness radar… or they truly just like it for whatever reasons. But it seems like a lot of times they just jump on the bandwagon and say “Yes!” because it seems like the cool thing to do.

Moral of the story: Be honest, and support your favorite artists but have the courage to admit when something isn’t so great so that it can be improved on the next album or EP.
